Topics Cover Next Generation Issues
The American Fire Sprinkler Association’s (AFSA) NextGen Initiative (NGI) recently announced its new series of webinars covering issues and topics important to young (40 and under) professionals in the fire sprinkler industry. The first two webinars have been scheduled: “Planning the Lingering Ownership Transition” on June 6 2018, and “Leading Across Generations” on August 9, 2018.
“We established the NextGen Initiative to not only drive the success of the next generation of fire sprinkler professionals, but also to fuel the growth of the overall industry,” says Nicole Duvall, AFSA director of communications and staff liaison to the NextGen Initiative. “This new webinar series will highlight the leadership skills, such as generational communications, leadership development, succession planning and industry recruitment strategies, necessary to ensure the positive growth of the industry.”
“Planning the Lingering Ownership Transition” Discuss choosing and developing your next-generation leaders and examine the concept of a slower transition strategy for ownership transfers in NGI webinar “Planning the Lingering Ownership Transition,” June 6, 2018, from 12:00-1:30 pm Eastern time (EST). Ownership transition planning for fire protection firms has historically focused on a transaction with retiring owners selling 100 percent of their stock to the next generation. The transaction typically took place over a period of years and had a defined end. There is now a shift in the way sellers think of “retiring.” Several factors have sellers taking a slower approach to the sale, resulting in an undefined end date. This seminar will be presented by Randy Stutzman, a managing director of FMI Capital Advisors, Inc., FMI Corporation’s Investment Banking subsidiary.
“Leading Across Generations” On August 9, 2018, AFSA’s NGI will present “Leading Across Generations,” from 12:00-1:30 pm Eastern time (EST). Millennials and centennials have ushered in a new era, with new expressions, and new expectations. To thrive in this new era, organizations must adopt and employ a cross-generational leadership approach. This webinar will help attendees understand how to be more effective 21st-century leaders by leveraging the power of insight, influence, and inclusion. Tru Pettigrew, founder of Tru Access, will present this seminar.
